What is Flexibase ?

Flexibase is the name given to the OpusVL application framework originally created by Stuart Mackintosh. This framework has traversed different underlying technologies throughout its history from its initial inception in 1999. Each time the technology layer or implementation undergo a major change, the major version is updated. Throughout is evolution, Flexibase has always been based on Perl technology.

Flexibase encompasses real world experience and customer need with best methods to deliver. Recent changes have enabled a greater modularity to be achieved providing more commonality for the core modules and greater flexibility in the client specific modules. This has also enabled a rapid deployment of the base system and fast customer specific module creation.

The underlying broad capability of the Perl language provides pre-built interfaces and routines for most requirements which focuses bespoke development work where it adds most value to the client need.

What modules make Flexibase ?

At it's core, the application is made up of the following modules:

  • Content Management System (CMS)
  • Document Management System
  • SMS module
  • Capability Matrix
  • OpenERP OOM

These modules can be extended, new ones can be added so new functionality can be created.
